TRIPLE CELEBRATION IN DON BOSCO GUMBO, SOUTH SUDAN

Don Bosco Mission, Gumbo – Juba 2024:

Don Bosco Mission Juba held a triple celebration in the parish dedicated to St Vincent De Paul. On 27th Sep. the parish community with thousands of faithful celebrated their annual feast of St Vincent De Paul, the parochial conclusion of the Eucharistic Congress and the celebration of the sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation.

His Eminence Stephen Ameyu Martin Cardinal Mulla presided over the august celebration along with the Apostolic Nuncio His Excellency Archbishop Seamus Horgan and the Auxiliary Bishop Santo Loku Pio who administered the sacrament of First Holy Communion to 100 children and the Confirmation to 287 young people.

The Theme of the celebration was “One body, One Spirit in Christ” (Eph 4:4). Hence the celebration includes a week-long Recollections to different groups of the parish, Adorations, Confessions prior to 27th September and the grand Eucharistic procession on the final day. Fr George Kainikunnel, the Parish priest along with the Salesians and Diocesan Clergy and religious prioritized the spiritual formation of the faithful which is evidently seen in devotion with which the multitude gathered and participated.

Cardinal Stephen Ameyu exhorted the faithful to be Eucharistic people in One Body and One Spirit in Christ where there is no more warfare or violence. He reminded the people to move beyond living in tolerance and even coexistence to a family where Christ lives and eventually we become the Living Eucharist.
